Help Us Support Bujumbura, Burundi

Burundi Community Outreach Missions

Bujumbura, Burundi

Burundi is a country in Africa located next to Rwanda. It was devastated in war due to their fight for independence in the late 1990s. They are now rebuilding their war torn country. We are partnering with the Burundi Community Outreach Missions (BCOM) to help them reach three goals which are:

  1. Intercession (Burundi Pray - click here for their Facebook group)

  2. Holistically reaching out to the body of Christ

    1. Sharing the love of Christ through the Word

    2. Sharing the love of Christ through good deeds

    3. Building homes for the most vulnerable

  3. Economic & Social development plans

Open Air Crusade in Makamba & Team Introduction in Karuzi.

Burundi Community Outreach Missions (BCOM) is a legally registered association reaching out to Burundi by conducting powerful and effective intercession, encouragement through sharing the Word and Love of Christ, improving livelihoods through economic developments and social services in partnership with churches and other organizations. They are committed to uniting the body of Christ through prayer, sharing the true Word, developments and sharing resources as a team.

INTERCESSION

Jeremiah 33:3, Ephesians 3:20-2

Since 2014, we have been conduction intercessory prayer for the church and the nation and visiting all provinces in Burundi conducting ground breaking prayers. Members in and outside Burundi have committed one day in a week to pray and fast for a specific province because all provinces have different spiritual mappings. In 2020, we have begun organizing National Prayer Conferences for Burundi. We have achieved collaborations with local church and organizations, international partners, intercessors, and visiting missionaries.

HOLISTICALLY REACHING OUT TO THE BODY OF CHRIST

Galatians 6:9, Hebrews 6:10

In 2016 we identified some families in our community living in unprotected grass houses. They are spread over the country but our hearts go to those in Muyinga and Kayanza provinces. We are passionate of showing them the love of Christ by building homes for them. We target to build 50 homes in each province in 5 years (2019 to 2023) and by his grace we have done 7 homes. Among many reasons of building homes like health, privacy, sense of belonging and freedom; our main purpose is to give the girl child a chance to study which has been denied. It is devastating that when they turn to puberty in the grass house they are given out for marriage. Parents fear that the girls might get pregnant while still at home due to exposure in the one room grass house. Therefore, they are given out for marriage sometimes to older men and their chance to live out their purposes is cut off.

BCOM was able to help this family move from a hut to a 3-bedroom house. You can help more families by donating today.

ECONOMIC & SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT PLANS

Colossians 3:23-24, Psalms 90:17

We offer nurturing, consultancy, and training services for free. We train young people, as well as women in small business on capacity building, business, and finance management.

In 2017, when Jane made the decision to go into full-time ministry, she, along with her husband Bernard believed their business would flourish to support the ministry. However, the Lord said to her, “Jane, don’t be selfish! Share your business skills with young people in Burundi for free, I have ways to stand with my work!

Jane said, “I took time to allow it to sink deep and also pray for strategy and the right people.” Late the same year, she met two enthusiastic young men on scholarship with whom she trained about investments. They both co-founded a company in 2017 and another one in 2018. Both companies have at least 60 young shareholders.

Reaching Out to the Most Vulnerable

In September 2020, BCOM traveled to a province called Muyinga. It is extremely cold there, yet the team desired to help those who are most vulnerable. In Muyinga, they teach and train on jigger infection prevention and eradication. They had a chance to meet with the Governor of Muyinga, who was happy with their work and believes that they will have an effective community training. The five member BCOM team also cleans out jiggers and compounds.
